City Service was started back in 1975 by Jon Beach, a recent graduate of Cal State University Fullerton with a degree in biology. At that time biotech had not yet been invented and there were limited opportunities for a career in biology, so Jon teamed up with a friend, David Schafer, who had the idea of starting an asphalt paving company. In 1982 David Schafer moved on to start another business, but City Service gained some additional key employees including George Puente, another Cal State Fullerton graduate, Keith Cunningham, who came to City Service from Permacast Asphalt, and Darrell Brown from New Covenant Paving. Since 1975 City Service has completed over 20,000 different paving jobs in Southern California. We have put together an outstanding team of estimators, workers and supervisors that has the knowledge and expertise to insure the best quality in any type of paving, sealing or concrete job that our customers might need.

Our philosophy has always been to hire people who take pride in their work and then treat them with the respect they deserve so that they always will derive satisfaction from doing their best work. This allows us to attract and retain the most highly skilled and dedicated people in the industry. Many of our employees have worked for City Service for over ten or even 20 years and we are very proud of this stability. We are now training the second generation as the sons of some of our original workers are joining our team. We believe in being honest and fair with our employees, suppliers, and customers alike. We pay our bills on time, pay our employees a fair wage and give a fair deal to our customers. This has enabled us to build an outstanding reputation both within the industry and with our customers.
