Paving. There are many different factors that contribute to a good paving job. Asphalt is a material where tradeoffs need to be made in order to optimize performance. Courser material is stronger but finer material looks better. Softer material lasts longer and is more crack resistant but may be too soft for a specific use that a customer has in mind.
Once a mix design is chosen, the material must be placed correctly to achieve maximum durability. The asphalt must be at the proper temperature and needs to be rolled at just the right times to obtain both compaction and a smooth finished surface. Pavement construction is as much an art as a science and both good training and experience are important.
City Service foreman have over 95 years combined experience doing all types of paving work. We specialize in parking lot and private road construction but we also have experience with street repair and other public works projects. Our equipment is modern and well maintained and our crews are thoroughly trained to provide the highest quality work.

Petromat. Petromat is a fabric that is installed between layers of pavement to increase its strength, provide better resistance to cracking and create a moisture barrier. Petromat overlays are often the most cost effective way to renew and strengthen old asphalt. But to obtain the benefits of petromat, it must be installed correctly and with the proper materials and equipment. We use Amoco brand petromat fabric and our crews are specifically trained for the installation of this product.

Sealing and striping. Sealing helps to protect and extend the life of asphalt pavements and it is also an inexpensive way to improve the appearance of your property. An old, stained or faded parking lot can often be transformed into a new looking asset with only a fresh coat of seal.
Many other contractors save money by manufacturing their own sealer with inferior ingredients and poor quality control. This can substantially reduce the longevity and value of a sealing ob.
For this reason City Service exclusively uses Guardtop sealer manufactured by Vulcan materials which is recognized as the highest quality product available. Vulcan Materials is an international construction materials company with Guardtop plants in Irwindale and Texas. City Service is the largest applicator of Guardtop on the west coast.

Crack fill. Crack filling helps to prevent water from seeping into the subgrade under pavements which can weaken structural integrity and cause further cracking and pavement failure. Sometimes crack filling is the best way to extend the useful life of pavements at a very modest cost.
There are many different crack filling products on the market. For larger jobs City Service uses Craftco hot rubberized crackfiller applied with a Craftco machine designed for this material. On smaller jobs we use Vulcan Materials rubberized cold crack filler applied by hand.

Parking lot and highway improvements. In addition to our core asphalt and concrete work we offer other parking lot and paving related products. These include asphalt curb construction, speed bumps. ADA compliant handicap ramps, traffic and handicap signs, concrete or rubber wheel stops. bollards, specialized pavement markings, and specialized or color pavement coatings.

We have completed miles of concrete curbs, swales, sidewalks, along with concrete parking lots, handicap ramps, truck docks, etc. Our in house concrete crews allow one stop shopping for all your parking lot or paving needs and help us to coordinate work on your project smoothly.
